StockStory
StockStory is looking for an equity research analyst to join our team to build a new generation of AI-powered equity research.
About us:
We’re a VC-backed, rapidly-growing fintech startup on a mission to help individual investors beat the market and compound their wealth. We provide long-term investment research, stock picks, and real-time market insights.
Millions of retail investors already use our insights every month. Distribution partnerships with some of the most respected names in finance and tech — including Dow Jones, Yahoo Finance, Apple (Stocks App), CNBC, Microsoft (MSN Money), and TradingView — are a testament to our ability to deliver high-quality market insights at scale.
We have a long-term investing approach and our research process blends AI (LLMs), large scale quantitative analysis and insights from our analyst team. Our equity analysts act as designers, curators, and evaluators of automated research systems — helping us scale high-quality equity analysis across sectors. Our differentiated approach, custom built technology and proprietary datasets has enabled us to deliver market-beating results.
The Opportunity: Equity Research Analyst
We’re looking for a passionate and driven equity analyst to help shape the next generation of investment research. You'll combine traditional investment skills with new tools like large language models (LLMs) to generate and scale insights.
What We're Looking For:
2-6 years of public markets investing experience, preferably at a hedge fund, long-only fund, family office, or endowment. Top-performing sellside analysts will also be considered.
Proficiency in reading financial statements, performing fundamental research, and building financial models.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts simply and engagingly
Some experience designing prompts and context for LLM-based equity research (even if in free time or as a side project)
Basic coding (even HTML or writing macros in Excel) or programming experience is a plus but not required. We will teach you the necessary programming skills.
Systematic thinking, desire to “build the machine that does the job”
An owner’s mentality (because you will be one) and ability to problem-solve autonomously.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborating closely with engineers to design and build automated equity analysis pipelines blending LLM-based agentic and quantamental approaches
Conducting research and initiating coverage on public equities (domestic and international) across various industries such as Technology, Industrials, Finance and Energy
Clearly and concisely communicating investment insights for a retail investor audience through written narratives.
Contributing to our real-time market insights and monthly stock picking process.
Reasons to join our growing team:
Outsized Responsibility & Significant Upside: As one of our first 10 employees, you'll have significant influence on the product and substantial equity ownership in a rapidly-scaling startup.
Future-Proof Your Career: Gain hands-on expertise using AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) within real-world financial workflows.
Broad Market Knowledge: Work closely with our Lead Equity Analyst Anthony Lee (ex-KKR and over a decade of long/short hedge fund track record). You will hone your investment skills as a true generalist.
Make an Impact: Are you tired of the zero-sum game or treadmill of sweating short-term returns for LPs? Are you ready to build something meaningful and look at stocks through a truly long-term lens? Here is your chance to help millions of investors and shape the future of investment research.
Collaborative & Intelligent Environment: Join a team that is smart, hardworking, and genuinely friendly, fostering a cordial and supportive work culture.
Location: NYC (Hybrid) | Compensation: $135,000-$150,000 base + equity
