(Sr.) Staff Product Engineer (Frontend & Platform)

Productboard

Productboard

Software Engineering, Product
Prague, Czechia
Posted on Feb 20, 2026
This role is primarily based in our Prague or Brno office with an office-centric hybrid schedule.
We’re hiring a (Sr.) Staff Product Engineer with strong architectural thinking and meaningful frontend exposure who can help evolve our product experience and shared platform foundations. This person operates at the intersection of product strategy and technical execution, contributing to architecture decisions that enable Productboard to scale. They are a multiplier of engineers across teams, a thoughtful partner to leadership, and a pragmatic technical leader who creates clarity, reduces complexity, and drives cross-team leverage through high-impact collaboration.

On a typical day, you will…

As a (Sr.) Staff Product Engineer, you’ll operate at the intersection of long-term product strategy and technical reality, using your frontend expertise to shape how we build and evolve Productboard at scale. A “day” might look like:
  • Translate product strategy into architectural decisions and contribute to shaping technical roadmaps — especially where architectural decisions directly impact product velocity, usability, and long-term scalability.
  • Evolve frontend architecture and shared platform foundations. Contribute to the evolution of our frontend systems and shared platform capabilities, including UI infrastructure, state and data patterns, performance strategy, developer workflows, and how frontend and backend systems interact at scale.
  • Create leverage across teams. Build reusable patterns, libraries, and platform capabilities that enable dozens of engineers to ship safely and quickly — raising the baseline for quality, usability, and iteration speed.
  • Drive alignment through clarity. Write clear RFCs / ADRs and collaborate with teams to align on technical decisions and trade-offs.
  • Guide complex cross-team execution. Step into the most critical and complex cross-team initiatives — shaping direction, unblocking progress, and ensuring solutions remain pragmatic and durable.
  • Contribute to the modernization of legacy constraints. Help evolve legacy frontend systems (e.g., fragmented patterns, scaling bottlenecks, brittle UI foundations), building buy-in and staging migrations so value continues flowing.
  • Support and grow senior engineers. Mentor others and help expand their architectural thinking and scope.
  • Champion customer value. Ensure architectural choices increase product velocity and elevate usability, reliability, performance, and craft.

About you

We’re looking for a Senior or Staff-level Engineer who pairs strong architectural depth with frontend fluency and technical leadership — someone who can influence long-term direction while staying grounded in pragmatic execution.
This role is well suited for senior engineers who have led architectural initiatives within a team and are ready to expand their impact across a broader product and platform surface. Your background can be frontend-first, full-stack, or backend-heavy with strong frontend understanding.

You are a strong match if you:

  • Think in systems and horizons. You think beyond immediate features and can identify architectural risks and opportunities that impact the next phase of growth.
  • Have strong frontend fluency and architectural depth. You bring a strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and can reason about trade-offs across frontend, backend, APIs, and data flows.
  • Create leverage, not dependency. Your instinct is to make others faster and more successful through patterns, tooling, and shared platforms — not by becoming a bottleneck.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence. You can translate complex engineering trade-offs into narratives leaders can act on, and can write short, high-leverage docs that drive alignment quickly.
  • Make pragmatic trade-offs. You’re opinionated, but not dogmatic. You seek the simplest path to meaningful value, and you know when to build durable foundations vs. when to iterate and learn.
  • Own outcomes. You don’t just “deliver a solution” — you take responsibility for the real-world impact of your decisions across product metrics, team velocity, and system health.
  • Raise the bar through craft. You care deeply about quality, usability, and maintainability, and you lead by example — shaping engineering practices and standards across teams.
  • Grow other technical leaders. You have experience mentoring senior engineers and helping them grow their scope and influence.

Bonus points if you:

  • Have led a design system / component platform at scale, including governance and adoption.
  • Have driven frontend performance strategy across a large product surface.
  • Have successfully modernized legacy frontend architecture while keeping product delivery moving.
  • Have experience shaping engineering strategy with Directors / VPs and influencing a broader organization.
  • Experience with backend systems, distributed architectures, or event-driven systems (e.g., GraphQL, Kafka, JVM ecosystem) is a plus.

You can look forward to the following benefits:

  • Stock options
  • MacBook
  • Budget for online courses & books
  • 5 weeks of vacation + sick days
  • 1 Volunteer Day per year for you to help causes close to your heart
  • Free snacks, drinks, and yummy catered lunches
  • MultiSport card to access sports facilities
  • Flexible working hours and home office
  • Parental benefits
  • Language lessons
  • Mental Wellness Program to support your well-being and self-care
  • Hone – Live, interactive learning programs for managers, leaders, and teams
