About the Role

We are looking for a highly reliable, execution-driven People Operations Partner to own day-to-day HR operations in Croatia while helping scale global HR Operations across multiple countries (including Africa and APAC)

This is a hands-on role with high ownership. You will ensure operational excellence, accurate documentation and compliance, strong employee support, and continuous improvement of processes through systems and automation.

You enjoy HR as a craft, are curious about how organizations work, and actively improve workflows using technology (including AI tools such as ChatGPT).

Location: Zagreb, Croatia (on-site presence required)

What You Will Own

  • Maintain accurate personnel records and HR systems (new hires, changes, leaves, exits).
  • Prepare and manage HR documentation (employment contracts, work permits/visas where applicable, guides).
  • Ensure compliance with Croatian labor law and internal policies; review and update policies as needed.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs (leaves, absences, overtime, schedules) and final validations with providers.
  • Act as first point of contact for employee queries; resolve issues in a timely, practical way.
  • Coordinate with external partners (payroll, legal, EOR providers).

2. Onboarding, Offboarding & Employee Lifecycle (~20%)

  • Own onboarding and offboarding processes (pre-joining, orientation, documentation, feedback collection).
  • Ensure a smooth, structured employee experience and continuously improve lifecycle processes.
  • Support onboarding of employees, including remote setups.

3. Global HR Operations & Manager Support (~20%)

  • Support and coordinate HR operations across multiple countries (Nigeria, Philippines, EOR locations).
  • Review/support employment agreements across jurisdictions.
  • Support managers globally with practical, business-oriented people guidance.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose scalable, simple solutions.

4. Systems, Automation & Continuous Improvement (~15%)

  • Own and optimize HR systems (HRIS, documentation workflows, tracking tools).
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements using automation and AI (e.g., ChatGPT, workflows).
  • Build simple dashboards and reporting to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Partner with Business Operations on overlapping processes.

What We Are Looking For

Must-Have

  • 4+ years in People Operations / HR Operations / HR Generalist roles.
  • Strong ownership and execution – you get things done without constant follow-up.
  • Solid knowledge of Croatian labor regulation.
  • Experience handling HR documentation with high accuracy (contracts, records, policies).
  • Experience supporting onboarding/offboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Experience coordinating payroll inputs and working with external providers.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization/documentation skills.
  • Experience working in a distributed environment.
  • Ability to balance employee support with business realism.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Based in Zagreb and able to work from the office.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in scale-ups or international environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-country HR operations and EOR structures.
  • Good understanding of employment and contract regulations across jurisdictions.
  • Exposure to equity compensation structures (e.g., ESOPs).
  • Strong cultural awareness and ability to navigate different working styles.
  • Experience improving processes, systems, or using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT).

Who You Are

  • Curious and genuinely enjoy HR.
  • Pragmatic, structured, and action-oriented.
