About the Role:
We're growing at an incredible pace, and we need a hands-on Head of Compliance Europe to join our team. You will lead Fiat Republic’s second-line compliance function in Europe, ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements while supporting business growth.
This role demands a proactive and strategic leader who can expertly navigate the complexities of European financial regulations. You will oversee regulatory compliance ensuring strong controls, frameworks, and regulatory engagement. This role will work closely with the CCO, providing strategic compliance support while still executing key compliance functions. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Act as a regulatory compliance advisor to the business, ensuring alignment with all applicable financial regulations.
- Maintain and enhance Fiat Republic’s compliance framework, ensuring policies, procedures, and controls meet and exceed regulatory standards.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management framework, ensuring robust risk governance across the organization.
- Lead and manage regulatory licensing, reporting, and engagement with financial authorities (e.g., FCA, DNB).
- Provide strategic support to the CCO in formulating regulatory strategy and managing external communications with regulators.
- Work with Product, Operations, and Tech to embed compliance requirements into products, services and business processes.
- Monitor and interpret all regulatory developments, assess their impact on Fiat Republic, and implement necessary changes promptly.
- Oversee all compliance audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring full cooperation and providing timely responses.
- Position compliance as a strategic enabler, supporting product development and operational decisions, and fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
What we expect from you:
We're a team with a strong bias for action and continuous improvement. To thrive here, you'll need to demonstrate:
- Advanced degree in (preferably) law or comparable studies (certified compliance education is a strong plus)
- 7+ years of compliance professional experience within a financial services environment (EMI or Fintech experience is a significant advantage);
- 3+ years of proven leadership and team management abilities;
- Ability to manage various stakeholders across our business and stimulate a balanced weighing of interests, while maintaining a commitment to complying with the letter and spirit of laws and regulations;
- Excellent (English) communication (written and verbal) skills and interpersonal skills, and adept at working with cross-department colleagues;
- A hands-on approach to our business as usual tasks while we scale, and always ready to jump in and do whatever needs to be done in an enthusiastic, proactive, and resourceful manner, and a strong work ethic with a high degree of accountability and organisation;
- Be a self-starter, capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision, but also a team player at heart;
- An attitude and evidence of excellence. Not just saying, but showing in your everyday behaviours, a desire and necessity to continually improve us and yourself;
- Experience with the cryptocurrency market is a very significant advantage;
