The role:
Continuum Industries is revolutionizing sustainable infrastructure development with our geospatial, AI-powered software solution, Optioneer. Since our inception in 2018, we’ve powered the planning of over 60,000km of transmission infrastructure spanning underground and subsea power cables, overhead lines, and hydrogen and water pipelines. Optioneer helps major organizations across the globe to build critical infrastructure faster, with greater confidence.
Following our £8mSeries A investment round in 2023 and off the back of tremendous momentum in the UK and Europe, we established ourNew York office in December 2023. Optioneer has been deployed by large infrastructure organisations such as National Grid, BP, EDF, SSEN Transmission, Iberdrola and National Gas Transmission in the US, UK and Europe. Our solution has the capability to transform the way we develop infrastructure through AI and automation. We want someone to help us change the status quo and drive infrastructure development forward!
We are looking for a hands-on and proactive individual with experience in infrastructure project development, with a specific focus on overhead line transmission projects. This person will have technical engineering, project management and/or permitting experience (ideally all three but we are realistic). Regardless of area of expertise, cross functional empathy is essential.
This role is focused on helping our customers adopt Optioneer and supporting users day-to-day with implementation of the software on their projects. By joining customers’ projects as Optioneer and infrastructure development expert, you will be pivotal in maximising the use of the solution and ensuring that our customers both realize and utilize its full potential.
You will also have a strategic contribution to the product development roadmap and business development activities across Europe, working with our customer success, sales, product and engineering team; at Continuum we believe collaboration is the key to progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding requirements and defining deliverables with customers
- Operating Optioneer software to generate results for our customers
- Supporting the progress of iterating on results using Optioneer based on feedback from customers
- Validating, communicating and presenting technical results to users
- Handling, reviewing and processing geospatial (GIS) data
- Onboarding team members to Optioneer and upskilling Customer teams
- Preparing deliverables for our customers - reports, analysis documents, visuals
- Provide specifications for features of Optioneer app based on experiences in project delivery
- Supporting our clients in maximising their use of Optioneer software and identifying opportunities for further deployment of the software
- Identify opportunities to increase the use of Optioneer within key accounts
Requirements:
- Broadly, technical project management, electrical or civil engineering background with a good understanding of infrastructure development, particularly within the electricity transmission / distribution sector
- 3+ years experience working for an asset owner, consulting firm or contractor
- Experience working in a client-facing role with the desire to deliver above expectations
- Navigating interdisciplinary workflows, communicating complex concepts and working with diverse stakeholders
- Effective communication skills, being able to produce high-quality and appealing deliverables
Bonus Points for:
- Exposure to various phases of early-stage project development such as feasibility studies, strategic optioneering, routing and siting, public consultations and EIAs
- Evidence of working on company or team-wide initiatives to improve efficiency or quality of workflows within the electricity sector
- Understanding of working with GIS data (especially working with QGIS)
- Appreciation of the challenges in software product development
- In-depth expertise in a specific market or geographic area.Eg. past experience working in mainland Europe
- Working proficiency in an additional European language is desirable (especially Italian, Spanish, German, or French)
